  • The Louisiana Independent School Association, better known as L.I.S.A., was an independent governing body, that regulated the interscholastic athletic sports of private high schools in the state of Louisiana.

  • L.I.S.A. had 20 original members, but quickly moved to 59 members it's second year

  • Most of these academies were founded on segregation after the state of Louisiana desegregated public schools. This organization lasted from 1970 until the end of the 1991-1992 school year.

  • The last event sponsored by L.I.S.A. was the All Star basketball game in the Summer of 1992.

This is an article out of a Louisiana Football Magazine from 1988.
